The brothers of Alpha Omega Chapter extend our congratulations to Bro. Mark E. Jackson, Sr., elected 43rd Grand Basileus of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Incorporated on July 2, 2026 at the 85th Grand Conclave in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Bro. Jackson is one of our own. Initiated through Delta Theta Chapter in 1988, he came to Alpha Omega and served as our 38th Chapter Basileus from 2004 to 2005 — the seat now held in a line that runs back to the founding of this chapter in 1922. He led here before he led anywhere else.
From Alpha Omega he went to the Third District, serving as District Representative from 2006 to 2009 with governance responsibility for every chapter of Omega in the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of Virginia. He was twice elected Grand Keeper of Records and Seal, and most recently served as First Vice Grand Basileus, the 36th brother to hold that office.
Along the way he has carried the work that does not always make the program: the International Undergraduate Summit, which he conceived; the reduced initiation fee that opened the door for undergraduates; the Fatherhood and Mentoring Initiative; the Stop-the-Violence Committee; and the fraternity's annual presence in Washington during the Congressional Black Caucus Legislative Conference, which he has planned for years.
In November 2024, standing in Cramton Auditorium at Howard University for the Founders Day Rededication Service, Bro. Jackson spoke on unity, purpose, and faith, and thanked the brothers who had shaped his thirty-six years in Omega.
Alpha Omega has been home to most of our Founders, including Founder Edgar A. Love. It is a particular honor for this chapter that a brother who once presided over our own meetings now presides over the whole of Omega.
